The 2005 Barlow Trail Century! Brought to you by, River City Bicycles.

Event Details:
Event Description:
Last year we raised $3,000 for the kids of B.I.K.E. A big ?Thank You? to the 360 riders of 2004! Rated ?A Perfect 10? by many riders in ?04, we?ve only improved, taking suggestions and planning for another smash hit.

THE RIDE: Test your resolve like pioneers before you, as you weave through the forest ascending up the flanks of Mt. Hood this old historic Oregon Trail Route.

This epic ride begins and ends at Paesano?s Cedarville Park in Gresham, Oregon. After a nice warm-up along the Spring Water Corridor, you?ll follow miles and miles of quiet country roads as you cruise toward the Sandy River. An exhilarating descent leads to the river?s edge at Dodge Park ? where there?s a short, but stiff, climb out. Relax at Roslyn Lake in the cool morning air, at the first of four rest stops while your nourish yourself on delicious gourmet bakery goods & fresh summer fruits. Just past the lake the 40-mile route loop splits from the 100, returning along rural county roads and a ?rails-to-trails? bike path.

Full-century riders charge ahead, climbing the famed ?Devil?s Backbone? and blazing down the other side into the lush green pasturelands of ?Little Switzerland.? A spin alongside a swiftly running Sandy River on the freshly paved Barlow Trail Road, leads to the junction of Lolo Pass Road ? the gateway to the Mt. Hood Wilderness Area. Be sure to smile with pleasure on your ascent to Lolo Pass (3,500ft.), where you?ll find a stash of provisions to fuel your ride back home. Then barrel down for miles & miles, as you and your posse hightail it to the post-ride party like barn-sour horses!

THE FESTIVITIES Upon your return, we?ll greet you with a scrumptious organic burrito & fresh fruit smoothie -courtesy of The Laughing Planet. If you?re feelin? it, grab a cold micro-brew and kick-it under the shade of the cedars while you listen to the funky sounds of the Six Finger Band (Be sure to look for Dave G., owner of River City Bicycles, on the bass!).

Parents don?t be shy about bringing your kids to the finish! Paesano?s Cedarville Park has lots of open space, a playground & a softball field. So get it in gear, tell your friends, and ready yourself for a ride you?ll never forget - The Barlow Trail Century!
